The ten finalists have been revealed as The Mail continues its search for the best bakery in Furness.

Earlier this month we launched the 'Best Bakery 2024' award, kickstarting the nomination process just over a week ago.

This invited our readers to submit the names of their favourite local businesses, whether they excel in perfectly-filled pies, freshly baked bread, or mouth-watering sweet treats.

Readers had just seven days to make sure their voices were heard, with hundreds of submissions coming in.

Now, we can exclusively reveal the ten bakeries that will be fighting for your vote to be crowned as the eventual champion:

  • Daddy's Family Bakery, Cheltenham Street, Barrow-in-Furness

  • Deli.sh, 12 Crellin Street, Barrow-in-Furness

  • The Bakery, 15 Amphitrite Street, Barrow-in-Furness

  • Grange Bakery, 2 Ennerdale Drive, Barrow-in-Furness

  • Greens Bakers and Confectioners, 24 Jarrow Street, Barrow-in-Furness

  • The Pie Shop, 83 Market Street, Dalton-in-Furness

  • Martin and Smith Bakery, 43 Brighton Street, Barrow-in-Furness

  • McLeys Bakery, 19 Bath Street, Barrow-in-Furness

  • Thomas’ Bakery, 72 Cavendish Street, Barrow-in-Furness

  • The Bakery, 90 Sutherland Street, Barrow-in-Furness

We will now be relying on our readers once again to make sure that these 'star bakers' get the support they deserve.

The window for voting will open on Monday, September 2 and will run until Saturday, September 14.

You will be able to cast your vote by picking up a copy of The Mail across the fortnight.

Across those two weeks, The Mail will be publishing special features about each of the finalists, uncovering their backstories, the people who keep them alive, and how they are moving into the 21st century.

All of the bakeries will be selling copies of The Mail during this period in the hope of drumming up votes, as well as displaying a custom poster to promote their nomination success.

Make sure to keep an eye out for those features from next Monday, and do not forget to vote when the time comes.
