As dog lovers around the world celebrate International Dog Day this week, honouring dogs of every shape, size, age and breed, it is the perfect time to encourage adoption.
Six lovely pooches currently in the care of Animal Rescue Cumbria are ready for rehoming.
Animal Rescue Cumbria and The Wainwright Shelter take in, rehabilitate and rehome 350 cats and dogs every year. Once a dog has been assessed by the animal care team, they can be advertised for adoption.

NOVA is a 15-month-old Shar Pei Cross.
She is described as a very sweet and affectionate girl, who loves to be around people.
Nova is a playful girl who would love to find a family who will be around lots of the time.
She could live with older children and can be walked with other dogs but would like to be the only pet in the home.
Nova enjoys going for walks and would like her new home to have a secure garden she can explore.
TEDDY is an 18-month-old Lurcher.
He is described as a very affectionate boy who enjoys being with people and would love his new family to be around most of the time.
Teddy is looking for an understanding owner who can continue his training.
He could live with older children but would like to be the only pet in the household.
Teddy also needs a home with a secure garden to stretch his legs in.
SAMSON the German Shephard is estimated to be about one year old.
He is looking for a special home where he will have a job to do, with an experienced owner who is consistent with training.
Animal Rescue Cumbria said: “Samson is very clever and eager to please so will require plenty of mental stimulation on a daily basis, alongside plenty of exercise. Having a job for Samson will be very fulfilling for him!”
Samson is looking for an extra special owner who has experience handling large breed dogs and can continue his training.
He needs a home where there are no children or other pets, and access to a large, secure garden.

MIKE is a Spitz Cross and is estimated to be around four years old.
He is looking for an extra special, patient and understanding owner who can continue his training and build his confidence.
Mike needs a quiet, adults only home where he will be the only pet, one with few visitors would suit him best.
Animal Rescue Cumbria said: “Once Mike gets to know you, he is a very sweet boy who enjoys a fuss. He loves to explore our secure field, and his recall is coming on well.”
He can be reactive when out on walks so would like to find a home in a quiet area where there are not many other dogs.
A home away from built up areas, with a secure garden and access to quiet walks would be great for Mike.
SCOTT the Collie Cross is six years and one month old.
He can be a bit timid at times when in new surroundings so he will need an understanding owner.
Scott needs to find a home where there are no children, he would also like to be the only pet in the home.
The charity said he walks great with other dogs when out and would like a home with a secure garden to roam.
HONEY is a four-year-old Clumber Spaniel crossed with a Staffie dog.
She is described as a very sweet girl and would like her new family to be around lots of the time.
Honey would like to be the only pet in the home and could live with older children.
She is looking for an owner who will continue her training.
