Stressful week? Weather getting you down? The perfect antidote is waiting for you with an afternoon tea on the banks of Lake Windermere that is the stuff of dreams
If you seek adventure without getting wet then it is all plain sailing at Langdale Chase. The majestic five star Hotel nestled on the east shore of Lake Windermere has stunning views across the bay.
Homely and welcoming. The decor and lighting is subtle and inviting. It feels like the shimmering light of Windermere floods into the room. Langdale Chase has been lovingly renovated since its recent restoration. The boutique Grade I listed building which has 30 guest rooms has delighted residents and guests since 1891 and none more so that Manchester journalist Arthur Ransome.
Ransome spent many a happy hour with his family at Langdale Chase and contrived the narrative that has inspired two Swallows and Amazons films in 1974 starring Virginia McKenna and 2016 starring Andrew Scott.
Lake Windermere has become synonymous with this evocative free spirited tale of adventure and innocence.
Afternoon Tea is something to be savoured.
You are spoilt for choice with a delectable selection of luscious sandwiches, savouries and tantalising fancies served on beautifully handcrafted crockery by local Lake District ceramic artist Fiona May
The signature Langdale Tregothnan tea is a refreshing and surprisingly pleasant beverage to wash down a delicious regiment of smoked salmon or beef sandwiches, later joined by potted shrimps, cheddar doughnut and the Pièce de résistance Gooseberry choux. Manna from heaven to connoisseurs of afternoon tea
The scrumptious dining experience is a real family treat, a gift for a loved one or food for thought for a romantic getaway.
Langdale Chase is dog friendly and your pet pooches are welcomed with treats and pampered.
Of course you can relax and take in the sumptuous rooms or for the outdoor minded you can take an outdoor swim or sail off the jetties on the grounds.
