A headteacher of a Lake District school has praised not only the students' dedication this year following a great set of GCSE results but also the support of their families.
John Ruskin School headteacher Peter Blackburn said the hard work of students, as well as encouragement from their families, had been a 'significant contributor'.
He also commended eleven students for particularly outstanding results.

Mr Blackburn said: "Results this year are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students in the way they approached their exams this year.
"There are some fantastic young people leaving us this year and I know that their future will be bright as they build on the success they have had in this exam series.
"I would like to thank all our families for their support of our GCSE students over the past five years. Everything families have done to encourage and focus the students in the months prior to these exams has been a significant contributor to the school and students’ success.
"We are proud of all our students results but particular notice goes to Miles and Maisey Fieldhouse; Alex Graham; Isaac Andrews; Archie Brown; Max Clarke; Tom Davis; Alana Harrison; Tadey Lohin and Kiana Sharpe for achieving more than a third of their GCSEs at grade 7 or above."
