A WOMAN is setting up a home support business inspired by taking care of her grandparents.

Claire Wood was a carer for her grandparents for five years before they were moved into a care home.

After noticing the need for care in south Cumbria, Claire decided to go through training and open CW Home Support.

"Somebody said to me that there is a massive need for someone to just help people in their own home and that is where it started," she said.

"I have gone through a company called Community Catalyst to get people up and running for care in the community setting up their own businesses."

The business covers Ulverston and the surrounding areas. The services include shopping, light cleaning, food and fluid preparation, laundry and ironing, errands and companionship.

Claire, who also runs Slimming World groups, said the business had been successful as she has had 'a lot of people' messaging her about it.

She said: "It is a hard situation when you have been independent all your life and then you are asking for help you are bringing somebody into your home that potentially is a stranger.

"Some people just want companionship. They just want to maybe go down to the beach and have an ice cream that they have not been able to do.

"It is just all these little things that we may take as second nature but we do not realise until we can't do it how much it affects us.

"I want to help people who are struggling at home and need help and I just can make their life a bit easier.

"I want to take away the burden and the guilt of the daughters and the sons who are working full time."
