The Sir John Barrow Monument was used to remember the victims of terrorist attacks across the globe last night.
The Ulverston landmark on Hoad Hill was lit up blue on Wednesday (August 21) as part of the UN's annual Day of Remembrance.
This was started in 2017 to honour and support the victims and survivors of terrorism and to promote and protect the 'full enjoyment of their human rights and fundamental freedoms'.
Every August, the day is used to remind people worldwide that a wide-range of hateful ideologies continue to injure, harm and kill thousands of innocent people each year.
In 2024, the theme of the commemoration is 'Voices for Peace: Victims of Terrorism as Peace Advocates and Educators'.
This is designed to highlight the powerful voices of victims, acknowledging how their experiences and stories contribute to raising awareness of the enduring impact of terrorism - and can ultimately foster positive change.
