A national charity is focusing its efforts on Walney later this month to give it a much-needed clean.

Organised by Just One Ocean, the scheme is taking place at Biggar Bank beach on Saturday, August 31.

The beach clean-up will see people meet at the Round House Hub Cafe on Biggar Bank Road, where the necessary equipment will be waiting for them.

The exercise is expected to last for roughly two hours from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, and you can register your interest by visiting the website here.

Just One Ocean was founded by David Jones, a diver and underwater photographer, 10 years ago with it becoming a registered UK charity in 2018.

The group focuses on conservation so that the ocean is protected for future generations to come.

Besides working with NGOs, governments and businesses, they also rely on local communities - such as in Barrow next week - to make a real difference in the area.
