EMERGENCY teams conducted an extensive search for a missing person in the Walney Channel early this morning (19 August).
Furness Coastguard, the RNLI, police, ambulance and fire crews were involved in the search.
A spokesperson from Furness Coastguard said: "An area from the slag bank to the Barrow Port gates was covered by the teams."
The teams stood down at 6am after nothing was found.
UPDATE: the police confirmed that the missing person has since been found.
