TRAINS in Cumbria may be cancelled or delayed due to signal failure.
A fault with the signalling system in the St Bees area means all lines are blocked, according to Northern.
As a result, trains running between Whitehaven and Barrow-in-Furness may be cancelled, delayed or revised.
The routes affected are between Carlisle and Barrow-in-Furness, Carnforth and Lancaster.
Network Rail engineers are reported to be on-site to resolve the incident. Disruption is expected to last until 3pm.
Network Rail said: "To assist you with you journey your ticket will be accepted on TransPennine Express services between Carlisle and Lancaster.
"You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim."
