A special event is coming to Barrow later this year to honour the work that hospices do in the local community.

Working in partnership with the Furness Dementia Partnership, St Mary's Hospice is hosting the 'Active Minds, Healthy Hearts', a dementia care event at Barrow Leisure Centre on Thursday, October 10.

The day is being used as a 'fantastic opportunity' to showcase the incredible services and support available in the area for people living with the condition.

The organisers will also be highlighting the benefits of sport and physical exercise as outlet for people with dementia, something which the hospice's new Sporting Memories group has been championing.

The event will run between 1pm and 4pm on October 10, with the hospice hoping that as many people as possible will choose to get involved.
