A heart-warming message has been left for farmers outside a post office in a Cumbrian town.

A scarecrow topper was discovered atop of a post box outside Millom post office on St George's Road.

For the past couple of years, many knitted creations have appeared on the post box to the delight of the local community.

Themes have included Halloween, Valentine's Day and Remembrance Sunday.

The crochets are left by the elusive Crochet Fairies and this time, they have left a heart-warming message.

(Image: Millom Office) It read: "We can all agree the weather has not been great, but our lovely farmers still bring the food to our plate.

"The topper this time is to say thanks for all that they do.

"Working so hard to bring the harvest to you.

"So smile and be thankful and enjoy the things that they grow.

"We are so blessed to have them, much more than you know."

"And thanks always to our Post Office Team (same applies as above!!)

"Love from the Crochet Fairies, xxxxxxx."
