A WOMAN was rescued after tumbling down a Lake District bank and sustaining a 'possible' spinal and head injury.
Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was asked to assist North West Ambulance (NWAS) service with the evacuation of a lady who had tumbled down the bank at the lake shore near Sunny Bank.
The team explained the walker had a 'possible' spinal and head injury.
She was given pain relief, fully immobilised and stretchered with a safety line up to the road, according to the rescue team.
NWAS then took the casualty to Furness General Hospital, Barrow.
The incident took place on August 10 and involved 13 volunteers. It lasted for one and a half hours.
A spokesperson for CMRT said: "The team would just like to thank everyone else who assisted with this incident. Relatives, campers and general members of the public were instrumental in the good welfare of this lady."
