A group of submariners have been showing their support for the 'excellent work' of local charities.
The Barrow branch of the Submariners Association met with representatives of the Furness Group of Riding for the Disabled (RDA) and St Mary’s Hospice from Ulverston.
At the meeting, both organisations were presented with cheques worth £500 to help them continue their efforts in the surrounding area.
The donations follow a recent decision taken at the association's 2024 AGM, in which three charities were chosen by their members to receive donations from their ‘Charity Chest’.
The third charity selected for a donation was the North West Air Ambulance (NWAA), who will be receiving their cheque next month.
In exchange for their donations, association members learned more about the work of both charities and the costs involved, and heard how the funds would be put to their 'important work'.
