A 'rare opportunity' took place in Barrow and Kendal thanks to a group of first responders.
The respective fire stations held open days on July 13 and 14, giving the public the chance to see live demonstrations in partnership with Casualties Union.
The demonstration simulated a road traffic collision in which volunteers from the national charity played the parts of injured occupants of the car.
They created their own realistic-looking injuries using SFX makeup, and then role played as casualties throughout the demonstration.
A spokesperson from Casualties Union commented: "This involved being treated and rescued from the car by crews from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service.
"Most of the exercises we take part in are conducted away from the eyes of the public, so this demonstration gave us a great opportunity to showcase what we do to a wider audience."
