BARROW AFC's life president Brian Keen has died.
Mr Keen spearheaded the consortium of local businessmen which saved the club from extinction back in 1999.
After playing a major role in saving the club, as chairman he oversaw major on-field success including Barrow’s promotion into non-league’s top flight in 2008 and their 2010 FA Trophy triumph.
"Without their thankless efforts, we may not have a club today," said a Barrow AFC spokesperson.
"Brian was always a true gentleman who touched the lives of many here at Holker Street and he will certainly be missed by all of us here at Barrow AFC.
"As a mark of respect, we’ll be hosting a minute's silence at tonight’s match and all of the players will be wearing black armbands.
"All of the thoughts of everyone here at Barrow are with Brian’s family and friends at this difficult time.
"Rest In Peace, Brian."
