BUDDING engineers can spark their passion for technology at a new event designed to encourage and inspire young people to consider a career in the discipline.
On Friday 30 August, the Barrow District Association of Engineers will be holding a special Engineering Explorers Day at the Forum in Barrow which will feature an array of activities, talks, workshops and performances to showcase the opportunities available for young people in the Furness area.
The day includes:
- interactive workshop with David Price from Science Made Simple featuring live experiments to help explain the fascinating science behind our world
- an exploration of robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) with Jill Stewart, Professor and Director of the Institute of Engineering, Computing and Advanced Manufacturing at the University of Cumbria - including demonstrations from a real robotic arm
- a day in the life of Leah Clough, a Wind Turbine Technician and engineer who will tell you all about the amazing places a career in engineering can take you
This event is free and runs from 10.30am to 3pm.
