Young artists across south Cumbria have been set the challenge to recreate their favourite buildings from the region.

Organised by Westmorland and Furness Council, the competition is open to all junior school-aged children (seven to 11).

Whether it is through drawing, painting, Lego, clay moulds or even a Minecraft design, submissions are being accepted up until Friday, August 16.

Those looking to get involved just have to take a photo of their creation, attach a short description explaining why they chose that particular building, and send it to Barrow.AreaSupport@westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk.

Entries should also include the name of the child, their age, their school, and the location of the building.

Top entries in each category will be given special prizes that are yet to be revealed.

The hope is that, through this competition, the council can inspire the next generation to take an interest in local heritage.
