A BOMB squad was called out after a 'military-looking' explosive was found at a slag bank.
Cumbria Police were contacted at around 11.15am on Sunday (August 11) by a member of the public who found a suspected ordnance in an area of the slag bank near Ormsgill Lane in Barrow.
It was described as 6-7 inches long and 'military-looking'.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) were called out. They confirmed it as an explosive and they carried out a controlled explosion at around 4.50pm.
