A scene featuring Dave Myers is on the cusp of being named as the TV moment of the year.

The clip is from The Hairy Bikers' 'Coming Home for Christmas', which aired in December last year.

Just two months later, Dave died following a battle with cancer, making the series even more special for fans across the country as one of the final hurrahs of the chef's glittering career.

The special episode, besides showcasing the traditional cooking talents that the public came to expect from the Hairy Bikers, gave an insight into Dave's time with the disease and the process of chemotherapy.

The scene itself that has been nominated revolves around Dave getting back on his beloved motorcycle, once again capturing the 'zest for life' that he always managed to cling onto.

The TV Moment of the Year is being run by the Edinburgh TV Festival, which celebrates the best that the small screen produces.

With the voting process now underway, Si King said: "I'm so thrilled that one of the very many special moments we shared making this programme has been nominated for an Edinburgh TV Festival award this year.

"Could it win? Well, apparently it's down to you. Thank you - Dave would be so chuffed."

Making the moment extra special is the fact that the helmet and jacket sported by Dave in the scene was also worn by Lili Myers, his wife, during the Dave Day celebrations in Barrow.

In the episode, Si added: "Lil took a video of him riding away up his drive from his house, and I was like 'he's only gone and done it' - it was so joyous.

"I was jumping for joy. Not for any other reason but to see my best mate doing what he loves."
