The winner of The Mail's 'Best Pub 2024' campaign can now be revealed.

Last month, The Mail launched a competition to find the best place to grab a pint in Furness with our readers coming out in their droves to nominate their favourites.

Around 1,000 submissions were made in the process, making it the most popular campaign that The Mail has run so far this year - with plenty more still on the way.

Through those nominations, a list of 10 finalists was picked representing Barrow, Ulverston, and Dalton.

After two weeks of voting that came to a close last weekend, we can now share that The Devonshire, found on Michaelson Road in Barrow Island, is the winner.

Sabria Mcaloone has been at the pub since she was 18, pulling pints when she first started her career, and has been one of the key reasons for the Devonshire's success over the years.

She said: "I'm absolutely made up, thank you so much to all the readers who voted for us.

"I could not have done this without my amazing family and staff, and I would also like to thank all my loyal customers for standing by me all these years.

For Sabria - affectionately known as Sam by those who know her well - the award is just reward for a long and dedicated relationship with The Devonshire.

The landlady has now owned the lease for 28 years, though her time at the pub stretches to 37 years.

It is not the first that Sabria and the Devonshire have been showered with accolades, being named the best pub in Barrow back in 2019.

But, this time around, they have gone one step further and have conquered the entirety of Furness, truly cementing their legacy in the area.
