A pop-up pump track is coming to Walney Island for four days of freewheeling fun.
From Tuesday, August 13 until Friday, August 16, the track, at Vickerstown Park, will be open 24 hours per day and free to use.
The track is designed for all skill levels, from novices to seasoned riders.
Guided balance bike sessions will take place on Tuesday and Thursday from 10am to 11am, and from 2pm to 3pm.
A celebration event, including competitions, will be hosted on Friday from 1pm.
For those who prefer their bike experience a little less traditional, there's a chance to turn pedal power into the perfect smoothie.
The Smoothie Bike will be in operation each day from 10am to 4pm.
A live street art event will take place on Friday.
While the track at its busiest holds a maximum of six riders at a time, team members from Westmorland and Furness Council will be on hand between 10am and 4pm each day to ensure that everyone interested in participating gets a turn.
Tony Callister, chair of Westmorland and Furness Council’s Furness Locality Board, said: "Thanks to funding from the Barrow Town Deal as a part of #BrilliantBarrow, we are able to welcome our local communities to the pop-up pump track and bring families and young people together through a fun new activity.
"We look forward to seeing residents of all ages and abilities come together to enjoy this fantastic addition to the area."
Track users are required to wear a helmet at all times, and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
The pop-up track aligns with the development of a new outdoor community space at Earnse Bay on Walney.
Future plans for the Earnse Bay site include free-to-access trails and a purpose-built area for overnight camping.
Residents will be able to cycle, walk, or wheel to the hub in safety as part of the council's investment in a 1.4-mile active travel route on North Walney.
Works will begin in late August to introduce a travel route from Vickerstown Park to Earnse Bay.
