AN indie-rock band from Barrow fulfilled their dreams by playing at Kendal Calling.
Five-man-band The Silver Bars was put forward for a prestigious spot on the Calling Out Stage by BBC Introducing, a platform that promotes unsigned talent.
The stage is known for hosting the newest and most exciting bands and artists including Mumford & Sons, The 1975, London Grammar and more. It is also the home of Kendal Calling’s famous indie disco.
This was the group’s third time performing at Cumbria's largest music festival after previously featuring on the Yam Riot stage twice, which they headlined the second time.
A number of arrests were made at the festival, read more here.
Singer Dylan Grafton, lead guitarist Kieran Hakett, drummer Matt Grosvenor, bassist Elliott Jones and Phil McArthur on Synth took to the stage on the Friday.
They kept the crowd dancing with a set list of original tunes playing The Young Lieutenant, Man in the Sky, Joni, I’m Mad Too, The Sunshine Lounge, Lipstick Colour, Die Tonight and So it Goes.
The band said after two ‘amazing experiences’ and being fortunate enough to headline the Yam Riot stage last year, this time ‘seriously took the cake’.
“This time round at Kendal came at a bit of a shock to the system. Playing the Calling Out stage has been a dream of ours since we’ve been attending the festival," the band said.
“Playing alongside the calibre of acts that pass through that stage gives you a hint of imposter syndrome. In spite of that, we wanted to prove to ourselves that this is an opportunity we’ve earned through years of hard work and to just go out there and just have a mad good time.
“It was the gig of our lives and we’re so grateful for that opportunity and to everyone who attended our set!
“As for next year, who knows. We would of course love to return."
A number of famous faces were spotted in the crowds, read more here.
The Silver Bars stayed for the whole weekend, catching as many acts as they could.
They said: “We all had different acts at the top of our lists, Keane were next level, as was Declan McKenna. A few highlights would be Peace and Gumshoe.”
