A COMEDIAN who divides opinion has been booked by an animal rescue service to perform a show in Barrow later this year.
Roy Chubby Brown will be at the Cloud Nine and the Lounge nightclub on Dalkeith Street for one night only on December 5 in an event hosted by Cumbria Animal and Hen Rescue.
Eddy White, of Cumbria Animal and Hen Rescue, said: "We are very grateful Chubby is performing for us and bringing his show to Barrow.
“While we agree he may not be everyone’s cup of tea, there has been lots of interest and he has a huge fan base in the town. We hope this is going to be a really fun night."
The controversial comedian is widely known for his sarcastic blue humour.
Earlier this year, Westmorland and Furness Council announced they had ‘no plans’ to book Chubby Brown again at Barrow’s Forum theatre.

A council spokesman said: “Westmorland and Furness Council aims to create an exciting, varied and balanced programme of events at our venues which will be popular and make a significant contribution to residents' access to culture and entertainment.
"The council has no plans to book Roy Chubby Brown for The Forum at this time.”
Chubby Brown and his team said they were left ‘baffled and confused’ about the decision.
It comes after a visit from the comedian proved in 2022 proved to be controversial despite drawing in large crowds to the venue.
The same situation occurred in 2019 when Chubby performed a sold-out show to an audience in Barrow despite a storm of negativity in the lead up to the event.
Tickets to his show titled ‘Not Meant To Offend, It’s Simply Comedy Tour! cost £30.00 per person and are strictly only available to those aged 18 and over.
