A business in the Lake District has joined together with a local hospice to better help its patients and families.

St Mary's Hospice announced on Monday, August 5 that Pure Lakes Skincare, based in Ambleside, was its latest corporate supporter.

The company is managed by Claire and Gareth McKeever and will be donating an assortment of its products to be used by the hospice's complementary therapists.

Claire said: "We are delighted to be partnering with St Mary's Hospice and I'm really happy that our creams and our oils are being used on the patients.

"It's our way of thanking the hospice for everything they do."

After revealing the new partnership, the charity shared its 'heartfelt gratitude' to Claire and Gareth for their kindness and support.

Pure Lakes Skincare manages its manufacturing at a site in Far Sawrey, having once been based in Staveley.

Claire added: "We make all of our skincare products by hand and so we only use natural ingredients.

"We use shea butter, coconut butter, avocado oil, sunflower oil, and we only work with essential oils - we don't work with any perfumes."

Their work with St Mary's is just the most recent example of the business collaborating with other local organisations.

In June, it was announced that Pure Lakes Skincare was working with Rinaldo’s Speciality Coffee and Tea, and Ginger Bakers.

This saw them promoting the products of their fellow companies in the Lake District, with their partners then returning the favour in kind.

Pure Lakes Skincare was founded in 2007 by Iain and Sandra Blackburn, before being bought by long-standing customers Claire and Gareth in 2016.

The bespoke workshop in Far Sawrey began construction six years later as the business accommodated growing demand.

And, having received that support from the local community, the couple are now looking to repay that faith by giving back, one product at a time.
