Two tigers will be the latest departure at the South Lakes Safari Zoo 'within the next two months'.

Cinta and Kumbuh have been at the Dalton-based zoo since they were one-year-old but are being moved to a different facility.

The news comes just a week after it was announced two rhinos - Muzungu and Azeeza - were also leaving.

A spokesperson from South Lakes Safari Zoo commented: "Sumatran Tigers Cinta and Kumbuh will be leaving Cumbria within the next two months - we don’t have a date set as yet, we anticipate it to be mid-September and wanted to give you all as much notice as we could to say your goodbyes.

"The tiger twins are almost 10 years old and have been in Dalton since they were just over a year old, so it is time for them to see the world."

The pair will be moving overseas though confirmation of their destination and date of arrival is yet to be known.

"They are off to an incredible facility, which means you can rest assured they have a 'pawesome' future ahead," said the spokesman.

"Tigers in the wild can roam 32km in just one night – Cinta and Kumbuh are off to a facility offering much more space for them to enjoy and explore.

"As always, it is up to the receiving institution to announce their arrival so we cannot let you know exactly where they are destined just yet but we will bring you news of how they are settling in as soon as we can."

The zoo is making sure that as many visitors as possible can have a chance of saying goodbye.

"In the meantime, we have added a daily tiger talk and feeding at 2:15pm, to give everyone the chance to bid farewell to Cinta and Kumbuh - this activity is free of charge," said the spokesman.

"We also have availability on our Sumatran Tiger encounter with hand feeding opportunity for multiple dates throughout August."
