Cumbria Police has revealed that several arrests have taken place this week.
The Rural Crime Team was called into action as arrests and vehicles seizures took place.
Officers from both response and operational support teams reacted to reports of suspicious activity and took 'robust action'.
Two males were arrested near Meathop in South Lakeland on Monday July 29.
They were arrested on suspicion of 'going equipped', meaning they were found with a tool intended for use in the course of a burglary or theft.
Their vehicle was also seized for use in crime.
A further three males were arrested near Pooley Bridge on Friday August 2.
They were arrested on suspicion of theft of a quad bike.
Police seized their vehicle for use in crime.
A stolen quad bike was recovered nearby.
All five males were from other force areas and have been released on bail, excluding them from entering Cumbria.
In a post on their social media page, Cumbria Police said: "Thanks to our colleagues in both Lancashire and Durham for supporting us with searches.
"Shout out to our fantastic rural WhatsApp groups and local communities for being vigilant and helping us disrupt those intent on travelling to Cumbria to commit rural crime. Please continue to let us know about any suspicious persons or activity."
