A MAN has been disqualified from driving for almost four years after he was caught drink driving in Barrow.

Max Douglas, of Market Street, Dalton, was driving his Audi A5 when he was stopped by police on Cloisters Avenue on June 30 this year.

Court records show the 30-year-old defendant was charged with driving a vehicle above the legal limit after providing a positive breathalyser test of 65 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath.

At South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on July 24, Douglas was sentenced to a 12-month community order with requirements to complete 10 rehabilitation requirement days and 100 hours of unpaid work.

Magistrates also disqualified Douglas from driving for a period of 46 months but offered him the opportunity to partake in a drink driving awareness course which if completed successfully would reduce the length of ban by 46 weeks.

He was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £114 and court costs of £85.
