A MAN has lost his ability to drive after being caught drink driving in Barrow.
William Bamford, of Latona Street on Walney, was stopped by road traffic officers in his Volkswagen Polo on Hindpool Road on June 29 this year.
The 22-year-old was breathalysed at the roadside with the results concluding he had driven whilst above the legal alcohol limit.
He was arrested and taken to Barrow custody where he provided a lowest reading of 58 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.
At South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on July 24, Bamford was disqualified from driving for 15 months but offered the opportunity to partake in a drink-driving rehabilitation course which would reduce the length of the ban by 15 weeks.
He was also ordered to pay a £507 fine, £203 surcharge and £85 in court costs in full by September 18.
