MUSICIANS from across the globe are set to perform at an annual classical music festival in town.

Barrow Classical Music Foundation (BCMF) summer festival will be taking place between August 16 and 19.

The concerts will be hosted at St Mary's Church on Duke Street.

The opening concert on Friday is set to start at 7pm. Local Pianist and BCMF founder Emmanuel Gribben joins forces with The Khiasmos String Quartet (Royal Northern College of Music) to perform Brahms’ mighty piano quintet in F minor.

On Saturday, at 2pm, the internationally acclaimed pianist Roman Kosyakov and cellist Griff Wadkin will perform Beethoven’s Second Cello Sonata. The concert will also feature Ravel’s ‘Miroirs’ and Bach’s Cello Suite No.3 in C Major.

At 2pm on Sunday, baritone Salwan Cartwright-Shamoon and mezzo-soprano Yating Hu will perform a collection of popular art songs and arias with Emmanuel Gribben & Ling-ling Yu.

Salwan will also perform his original compositions for cello & piano with Griff Wadkin.

The finale will begin at 7pm with Griff Wadkin and Ling-ling Yu performing Beethoven’s First Cello Sonata alongside short classics and popular favourites for cello and piano.

Griff, also one of the organisers, said: "We are excited to welcome exceptional musicians from across the globe, as well as graduates from some of the UK’s most prestigious conservatoires, to come and showcase their talent in the beautiful setting of St.Marys Church, Duke St.

"There will be a variety of music performed across the weekend, from Bach, Beethoven and Brahms, to beautiful art songs and premiers of brand new music."

All the concerts are free to attend with donations going towards the performers and the development of future concerts.

Light refreshments will be served.
