A number of pubs are now facing a nervous wait as voting closes for the best in Furness.

At the start of last month, The Mail launched the 'Best Pub 2024' campaign, building upon the success of previous searches for residents' favourite chippy and hairdressers in the region.

Readers of The Mail nominated the pubs of their choice, with over 1,000 submissions being made - making it our most popular competition of the three so far.

Following the nomination process, a group of 10 finalists were named, with voting then commencing since July 22.

The final day [August 3] has now arrived to get your votes in by picking up a copy of The Mail.

Over the past two weeks, we have been running a series of features dedicated to all 10 finalists, with each one getting its own article to showcase why it is so important to the local community.

But which one has secured your vote and, more crucially, which one will be named as the ultimate place for a pint in Furness?

Will the family-run dynamics of Dalton's Red Lion or The Golden Ball Inn steer them to glory?

Perhaps a sense of freshness is needed, seen with the new team at Crofters in Barrow and the passing of the torch in Ulverston at The Rose and Crown.

Or maybe our readers will honour the long legacies in Furness, such as Barrow's Devonshire Hotel or the 14-year custodian of the Bridge Inn of Dalton.

A unique and quirky name might just be the ticket to success, which is what Ulverston's Gather Beers and Old Friends will be hoping for.

Or will it all come down to a battle of the 'lockdown teams', where the owners of both the Harbour Inn and the Clarence Pub took over back in 2020?

Make sure your voice is heard by picking up a copy of The Mail today, with the winners set to be announced the week commencing August 5.
