A SCHOOL in Windermere celebrated its tenth anniversary since opening by all the current pupils and staff forming the number 10.
Windermere Junior School and St Mary's Infant School amalgamated into St Martin and St Mary's a decade ago. The school was also celebrating retaining its 'good' Ofsted rating and successfully passing its Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools report.
Headteacher Matthew Towe said: "It has been a very busy year in school with two different inspections but the staff are delighted to know that their hard work and dedication to the children who attend has been formally recognised.
"Every day the staff go above and beyond to make our school a special place and help all the children achieve. Moments like these make it all worthwhile."
The school, on Princes Road, Windermere, was given its Ofsted grading after a visit from inspectors on June 12 and 13.
It currently has 403 pupils on its roll between the ages of two and 11.
The report called the school 'caring and welcoming' and praised high expectations for pupils and their good behaviour.
It added: "Pupils benefit from a range of opportunities to develop their leadership skills. These include taking on roles as school councillors, dinner monitors, mini police and sports leaders.
"Pupils develop their cooperation and team-building skills through the lunchtime activities that the school provides. They are proud to represent their school in a wide range of sports across the county."
The statutory inspection, carried out by The Church of England Education Office, was done on November 7.
The report stated 'a deeply embedded Christian vision infuses every aspect of school life so that all are enabled to flourish.'
It also stated that the school goes 'above and beyond' to develop the children through its curriculum and extra-curricular activities.
"Love and kindness are at the heart of relationships in this school community, where everyone is supported and nurtured to be the very best they can be."
