These were first established in the UK in 2005 and are deemed to operate in a manner which provides a benefit to the community they serve.
Sue Dust, one of the founding directors of the charity, commented: "Now our work truly begins as we get everything in place to help drive us forward to enable us to help the community of Millom and around the Combe, which has been our driving force from the very start.
"We would like to thank everyone who has supported and had faith in us and helped us on our short journey to where we are now, but we are all too aware that we have much to do."
The charity, only formed in July, is now getting ready for the official opening of its new base at 10 St George's Terrace, which is expected to take place in August.
