Barrow man jailed for 'degrading and humiliating' ex-girlfriend

BARROW man has been jailed after his 'degrading and humiliating' behaviour resulted in his former partner contemplating suicide.

Jordan McHugh, of Newton Road, assaulted his ex-partner on multiple occasions and took control of every aspect of her life between December 29 2015 – August 31 2021, Preston Crown Court heard.

Drug dealers jailed for supplying Class A drugs to Barrow

EIGHT people have been jailed for their roles in a ‘sophisticated and profitable’ county lines conspiracy which saw large quantities of Class A drugs supplied between Manchester and Barrow.

John Thompson, 44, Kirsty Davidson, 36, Latham Burke, 49, and Stephen Payne, 53, all received lengthy custodial sentences at Preston Crown Court on July 15.

Dylan Hayes jailed at Preston Crown Court after drugs found in M6 stop

A DRUG courier has been jailed for three years after he was stopped on the M6.

Dylan Hayes, 23, of Harris Road, Glasgow, was sentenced at Preston Crown Court for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs – heroin.

Man jailed for supplying half kilogram of cocaine in South Cumbria

A MAN who was stopped by officers in South Cumbria has been jailed for four years and six months for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Lewis Mahon Platt, 33, of Magnolia Court, Salford was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court on Wednesday.

Barrow man jailed for harassing woman on social media

A MAN has been jailed for breaching the terms of a long-running restraining order against a female complainant.

William Connolly, of Anchor Road in Barrow, admitted he had harassed the woman by contacting her via social media without reasonable excuse on May 10 this year.

Barrow man gets jail time for extreme pornographic images

BARROW pensioner has been jailed for possessing extreme pornographic images involving an animal. 

Trevor New, of Rustlings Court, had an image involving a person performing a sexual act on a dog 'in an explicit and realistic way.'

Peter Davies, of Dalton, jailed for online child sex offences

A MAN has been jailed for attempting to engage with who be believed to be a 14-year-old child in sexual communication.

Peter Davies, aged 46, from Dalton-in-Furness, was sentenced yesterday (July 4) at Preston Crown Court for attempting to cause / incite a child to engage in sexual communication and engaging in sexual communication with a child.

Lake District: Gary Gittins admits role in £53m cocaine supply plot

A THIRTEENTH person has admitted being involved in a huge £53 million county lines cocaine supply plot which featured a former television Love Island star and was smashed after a drug seizure in the Lake District.

Gary Gittins, 42, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court on Wednesday.

During a short hearing in front of Judge Nicholas Barker, Gittins pleaded guilty to conspiring with numerous other people to supply cocaine between March 1 2022 and late May last year.

Gerald McBlain jailed for burglary and stealing child’s bank card

A PROLIFIC offender is back behind bars after he admitted to breaking into a man’s home and stealing a child’s bank card.

Gerald McBlain, of James Street in Barrow, attempted to buy a box of chocolates with the stolen bank card which belonged to the complainant’s 12-year-old son, Preston Crown Court heard.
