STAFF at a Barrow charity shop are 'disheartened' after they were the target of a burglary.
Cumbria Police are appealing for information after it is believed that someone forced entry at the Salvation Army store on Walney Road, Barrow, and took cash from the safe despite it being locked for the weekend.
A spokesperson at the store said: “It is disheartening to be targeted for a burglary, particularly as we are so well supported by the local community in Barrow. The burglary did cause some disruption but our team, which includes both volunteers and staff, rallied around to get the store open after a couple of hours.
"We were lucky that there was not much taken, although there has been some damage to the building and we are arranging repairs. We would ask anyone with information to contact the local police.”
The burglary is believed to have taken place between July 6 when the store was locked up at 5.30pm and July 8 at 8am when staff returned to the store.
