Windemere has been named the UK's 'most in-demand scenic road trip hotspot' by a specialist insurance broker.
ChoiceQuote analysed search data and social media attention to determine the UK's top destinations for summer road trips.
The data revealed that Windermere in the Lake District holds the crown as the most in-demand destination.
The Cumbrian town recorded an average of 141,000 monthly searches on Instagram and 110,000 on Google.
There's been an upsurge in interest, with searches on Windemere jumping 122 per cent in the span of a year.
Further findings by ChoiceQuote are that almost three-fifths of people plan to savour between two and four mini vacations this year.
Interest in UK road trips has surged by 84 per cent in the past year alone, according to Google search data.
Two beloved spots take joint second place: Keswick in the Lake District, and the Cotswold's Bourton-on-the-Water.
Keswick boasts an impressive 116,000 monthly searches on Instagram and Google search interest has ballooned by 123 per cent, reflecting Brits' keen interest in the town.
Bourton-on-the-Water has similarly enjoyed increased attention with Google search numbers soaring by 124 per cent and drawing in hefty Instagram traffic at 171,000 monthly searches.
Rounding out the top three is the seaside town of St Ives in Cornwall.
The town has managed to draw in 173,000 monthly Instagram searches and 135,000 Google searches.
Phil Leese, taxi and specialist motor trading manager at ChoiceQuote, said: "The UK is home to some of the most beautiful scenery so it is easy to understand why Brits may choose to go on a road trip this summer.
"However, preparing for a road trip can be daunting with the number of aspects to think about.
"As with many long-distance trips, there are some key things to think about including packing the essentials and carrying out some car maintenance checks before setting off on your journey.
"Before you set off make sure that you have packed your car with all the essential items for a long trip.
"Before setting off, make sure to check for road closures to avoid any surprise diversions along your route."
