Barrow Lifeboat were dispatched yesterday (July 29) to what was believed to be a person in 'distress'.
The RNLI’s volunteer crew from Barrow Lifeboat Station launched their inshore lifeboat to search the Biggar Bank area of Walney Island.
The call was received from HM Coastguard at 5.40pm after members of the public on the shore spotted an object in the water and believed it could be someone in distress.

The inshore lifeboat proceeded at full speed to the west side of Walney Island and was joined by Furness Coastguard and Duddon Inshore Rescue.
A spokesman for the Barrow Lifeboat crew said: "During the course of the search a swimmer and a paddle boarder were located and were assessed to not be in any danger. With nothing untoward found, the teams were stood down by Holyhead Coastguard.
"The lifeboat returned to the boathouse at 7.30pm where it was washed down and made ready for the next launch."
