TWO children have been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at a derelict building in Barrow.
Police were contacted at 9:11pm yesterday, July 29 to the report of a fire at a property on Salthouse Road, Barrow.
A 15-year-old and 12-year-old were arrested on suspicion of arson. Both remain in police custody.
Cumbria police have said that no injuries were reported during the incident.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service received a call at 9:08pm yesterday evening, July 29. Fire appliances from Walney, Ulverston and two from Barrow along with the aerial ladder from Barrow attended a derelict building fire on Salthouse Road in Barrow-in-Furness.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire involved the roof space of a building where firefighters used two breathing apparatus, to extinguish the fire. Crews were in attendance for approximately an hour and 15 minutes"
The fire is in the same location as a ''major incident' which happened in June 2023.
