EMERGENCY services were called out to a fire at a derelict building in Barrow yesterday evening, with a road being closed for some time.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service received a call at 9:08pm yesterday evening, July 29. Fire appliances from Walney, Ulverston and two from Barrow along with the aerial ladder from Barrow attended a derelict building fire on Salthouse Road in Barrow-in-Furness.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire involved the roof space of a building where firefighters used two breathing apparatus, to extinguish the fire. Crews were in attendance for approximately an hour and 15 minutes"
It is understood that Cumbria police also attended the scene and a road was closed for some time throughout the evening whilst emergency services worked to make the area safe.
