A team of youngsters have smashed their fundraising target by 10 times following a charity football match.
The Walney Yellow's under-eights side took on a 12-hour marathon game on Saturday, July 27 to raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity.
This was done after Jimmy Hill, the father of goalkeeper Jonah, was diagnosed with a tumour in 2019 at the age of 34.
The team originally set a goal of £500, but revealed that, after the match took place, they have now surpassed £5000 thanks to the support of the local community.
They said: "The amount of pride we have right now is hard put into words - these kids are seven or eight years of age and what they’ve achieved is incredible.
"I’m not only in awe of the kids but the community of Barrow-in-Furness - it just goes to show how many good people there are in this town."
