A NEW tenant looks set to move into a shop unit following the closure of a Boots pharmacy.
Two Boots branches in Barrow closed earlier this year as part of plans to close 300 of the chain's stores nationally.
But a unit formerly home to Boots's Risedale Road branch could soon be filled.
According to estate agents Corrie and Co, the letting of the unit to a new tenant has been agreed.
It was listed on the market to rent at £24,000 a year.
The former Boots in Portland Walk remains empty.
The Boots pharmacy at Alfred Barrow Health Centre is now the only remaining branch in Barrow. Branches in Ulverston and Millom remain open.
The company said last year it was aiming to close 300 branches across the country.
The US owners of the brand, Walgreens Boots Alliance, at the time shared that the goal was to optimise locations and opening hours.
