The Lake District is set to host free storytelling events between August and October.

Throughout the year, Stealing Thunder, a storytelling organisation, runs a popular monthly storytelling club near Kendal called Stealing Thunder StoryNights.

The small outfit, founded by Emily Hennessey and Nick Hennessey, has put together a series of free events titled Summer of Stories.

Locations include Arnside Beach, Barrow Park, Ford Park, Windermere Library, Winster Valley, and Orrest Head.

The first event will be held at 2pm on July 31 at Arnside.

Events vary from short Story Walks to Pop-Up Days, featuring live shows and an audio cafe.

With a half-Swedish and English heritage, Emily perfected her storytelling craft in Kent and India, eventually settling in Cumbria with her husband, a fellow storyteller and acclaimed balladeer musician, Nick.

From their home in Bowland Bridge, where they raise their two children and a collie, the couple performs across the UK, Europe and worldwide, gracing various platforms including theatre, radio, international festivals and tours.

Over its 10-year history, Stealing Thunder has woven stories for adults, creating memorable nights, and family and community events, and has also pioneered two dedicated storytelling festivals.
