South Lakes, Cumbria has come up as one of the cheapest locations to enjoy a classic Mr Whippy ice cream.

A user-generated survey conducted by LatestDeals.co.uk revealed the most expensive and cheapest locations in the country for purchasing the ice cream, with Cumbria coming in as the third cheapest location at £1.70 for Mr Whippy.

Glen Park in Plymouth, Devon topped the survey at £6.

Tom Church, co-founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, said: “Six pounds for a Mr Whippy is mad.

“It seems to be in tourist hotspots that you’re most likely to get fleeced, rather than local ice cream vans.

“In general, the advice is to avoid the ice cream van in areas with lots of tourists.”

Besides South Lakes, other budget-friendly locations for a Mr Whippy include Raglan Farm Park in Monmouthshire, Wales, where prices start from £1.00, and Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, where it stands at £1.50.

However, places like the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester also topped the list, charging a hefty £5.
