ANTI-NUCLEAR weapon campaigners are due to protest outside Barrow's shipyard.

Members of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament are due to mark the bombing of Hiroshima and will raise placards in Barrow.

The group is due to stand on Michaelson Road Bridge, close to BAE, to protest against the Trident nuclear weapons programme.

Four submarines, forming the UK's continuous at sea nuclear deterrent, are being constructed in Barrow.

The vigil is due to take place between 1pm and 3pm on August 6.

Members of the CND South Lakeland and Lancaster have staged a number of gatherings outside of Barrow's shipyard.

Previous Barrow MP Simon Fell defended the Trident programme after earlier protests, saying it was a 'national endeavour that Barrow contributes to keeps us, and our allies safe and has done for generations'.
