Barrow Raiders are looking to inspire the next generation of female rugby players with a new programme.

The club has been asked by the Rugby Football League (RFL) to run a peer-to-peer selective programme for Under-15 and Under-16 girls.

Up to 12 elite girls at each age group will be invited to join the programme with the first of three eight-week blocks commencing in September.

The principle of the programme is to to develop each player individually with a focus on skill, decision making and game understanding.

This is intended to be the start of the pathway to the Women's Super League Under-19 Academy, then WSL and potentially England programmes.

Girls of this age group are invited to a open trial day led by Raiders Head Coach, Amanda Wilkinson, on Saturday August 3 from 10.30am until noon at the Northern Competitions Stadium.

Girls who cannot make the trial but still want to be considered for the programme can send a brief description of their experience to sneale6310@hotmail.com.
