POLICE have spoken to a man who allegedly approached children claiming he was a professional footballer.
A football club raised concern after the man was thought to have approached youngsters at Ormsgill playing fields in Barrow.
Parents were warned to contact police over any suspicious behaviour.
Cumbria Police said officers had carried out inquiries and given advice to the man.
Warning parents, Barrow Celtic Juniors Football Club said: "The club have been made aware of an Asian male in a cream sleeveless jacket wearing running shades approaching children at the Ormsgill fields and telling them he's a pro footballer.
"The club have no idea who this gentleman is and would advise any parents of children to be extra vigilant and report to the club or police (via 101) any suspicious behaviour."
A police spokesman said: "Barrow Police are aware of an incident reported at Barrow Celtic Juniors football club on Sunday 21 July.
"Inquiries have been carried out and the person involved has been identified and spoken with.
"No offences were identified and advice has been given."
