The Oxendale Beck stream

A small stream that flows through the valley of Great Langdale, originating in the high fells above the valley before joining the River Brathay downstream. 

This stream runs down the garden at Heron Place and under the house, which is incorporated as a feature in the garden room with glass floor to view the impressive natural beauty. As well as having full view of a waterfall outside.

With almost an acre of garden, the cottage has various winding paths, seating areas and vantage points, providing stunning panoramas of Great Langdale.

A wooden deck has been built around the majestic oak in the middle of the garden, an amazing area to sit and enjoy the views.  

And the secluded property has large windows to enjoy the beautiful, unspoilt scenery from inside the comfort of the property too - you couldn’t ask for a more beautiful setting. 

It’s also a wildlife haven, with prolific bird life, ever-present sheep in the surrounding fields, and hares, rabbits, deer, stoats, herons, weasels and foxes have all been spotted either in the garden or the surrounding countryside.

Heron Place is located near the iconic Langdale Pikes, making it a great base for walking or hiking this beautiful valley.

The Langdale cottage provides an ideal base for soaking up these sights. The charming, white-washed cottage caters to larger groups or multi-generational family holidays, sleeping up to eight guests it offers three double rooms and a twin, with three beautiful bathrooms, an extended kitchen with an oil AGA and a wonderful oak-framed garden room.

Heron Place was built in the 1930s in the style of a traditional Lakeland farmhouse.

The interior of the property retains many of its original features with strong influences from the Arts & Crafts movement.  A great deal of attention has been paid to warmth and stylish furnishings throughout the property.
