Love Windermere has revealed its new chairman.

The Love Windermere partnership has selected businessman Nigel Wilkinson MBE as its new independent chairman.

The partnership, comprising organisations across the South Lakes area, is dedicated to safeguarding and enhancing water quality in and around Lake Windermere.

Mr. Wilkinson brings a wealth of experience to the role, derived from various positions within the Cumbria business and tourism community.

Most notably, he serves as the managing director of Windermere Lakes Cruises Limited.

Mr. Wilkinson said: "It is a privilege to lead this ambitious partnership into its next phase.

"Windermere is an iconic waterbody in the heart of the Lake District," he said, whilst highlighting that there are challenges.

"I am passionate about water quality in the lake and Love Windermere is building on the improvements delivered in recent decades by bringing together everyone with the power to drive future enhancements, to protect the lake and to sustain our local economy and communities."

Ruth Forrester also joins as partnership manager.

Outgoing chairman for Love Windermere, Andy Brown, was recognised by Councillor Giles Archibald, portfolio holder for climate change and biodiversity at Westmorland and Furness Council for his dedicated service.
