Lucas called the article 'a nice surprise' and said they were contacted by the publication three weeks before the feature was published.

The couple run pizza nights on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays. Until last September, they only ran one pizza night on Saturday but 'decided for many reasons to move over to just being a full-time pizza restaurant.'

Lucas said: "Since then our pizza nights have gone from strength to strength offering high-quality ingredients and very good consistent results at a great price and at a high speed.

"In the nearly 10 years we've been open our dough has always had a great following and it's no different with our pizza."

The Times article said they run the bakehouse 'from an industrial unit in Cumbria.'

When asked how it felt to receive national recognition, Lucas said: "It's always great news to win anything and having won multiple world bread and Great Taste awards, a BBC food and farming award and featuring on the Hairy Bikers series for the bakery and the café - recognition is something we've always appreciated and strived for.

"It's great to now be recognised on this list amongst some of our pizza heroes for our woodfired sourdough pizza. We're always proud to take any opportunity to represent Barrow and Cumbria."
