Barrow is gearing up for the return of its popular Festival of Transport this weekend.

Organised by Barrow Business Improvement District, a whole host of vehicles will be descending on the town centre on Saturday, July 20 from 10am.

The festival will come to a close at 4.30pm with a vehicle procession around the centre acting as the big crescendo of the day.

Having grown to be a big hit with residents and visitors alike, the Festival of Transport has repeatedly drawn thousands of people to Barrow, serving as a big boost for local businesses.

Cars will be located on Dalton Road, with many getting lined up from 8am in preparation for the occasion, before eventually making their way to Greengate Street during the closing parade.

Away from cars, the festival also attracts a wealth of other vehicles, including scooters, buses, campers, trucks, commercial vehicles and emergency vehicles.

Besides the displays, a number of shows will also be taking place to entertain what are expected to be large crowds.

This will include the 'On the Edge' motorcycle stunt show, the 'Extreme Mountainbike Show', and Fusion Extreme, a BMX stunt show.

Live music will be a key feature of the day, with the Songsmiths returning to delight locals, alongside Ragazza and Cando FM on the Scott's Street stage.

One of the new additions for the festival is the Barrow Audio Adventure, which you can book for free here.

Local people have recorded their thoughts, opinions, stories and experiences which have been turned into an audio experience by Stefan Escreet.

Listeners will get to walk around a specially made route, starting at the town hall courtyard, as they learn more about the area and what sets it apart.

A returning favourite will be the BarrowFull art car, giving people the chance to decorate and doodle to their heart's content.
