PLANS have been lodged to convert a Lake District guest house into a number of self-catering apartments in a bid to meet ‘market demand’ for this type of holiday accommodation.
Brantholme Ambleside Ltd has submitted a planning application to the Lake District National Park Authority to convert Brantholme Guest House on Millans Park in Ambleside into six self-catering apartments.
The proposed apartments will consist of one three-bedroom apartment, four two-bedroom apartment and one one-bedroom apartment.
It is currently operating as a guest house with seven double en-suite bedrooms and a three-bedroom owners’ accommodation in the basement.
A design and access statement says: “The proposal will update the existing building in a sympathetic manner and have a positive effect on the existing business.”
Planning documents describe the building as a large four-storey Victorian house which was constructed in the 19th century.
This planning application is currently under consideration from the Lake District National Park Authority.
